How to be a Succsessful English Teacher

Last week, the guest of English teacher from Junior high school gave us a speech. He spoke about junior high school, and I got a lot of useful information.

He said that when we become the teacher, there will be two important parts which we must think about . And it's The Unchangeable and The Vogue.
The unchangeable are the tradition, the tone of the school, and of course the subjects. We must save them and teach them to the students. I think the unchangeable part is one of the most important part in the school. So I think we must study about our major field and common sense more. Because the children(almost people) tend to respect the person has wide knowledge. But, the way of teaching is also important. I recommend the English teachers to have more communication with the students in English, greeting, speech(weather, sports, news,...),conversation. Because I want the children to be interested in English as a language(commnication). The English commnication class is lacks in Japanese school, though it's useful to fascinate with them in the class.
The vogue are the present condition of the society, and the student's(teacher's) sense of value which is influenced by society. It's difficult to understand and accept these by obstinate people. So the teachers must be flexible. Now we are university students and have a little childish value, so maybe we can comprehend them. But 20 years later (as a teacher)......"Do you think we can understand/accept as 14 or 21 years old people?". If we want to understand the students until you get old, we must learn not only subjects but also the society and the children. So I think that it's necessary for us to have observant eyes. It's useful to make a good class. Because the teacher must observe them in the class, "Do they understand?" "Is this bored class?" "Who like/dislike English?" . These are important information to make the class.
So I think that the good English teacher will consider Unchangeanle and The Vogue deeply, and try to practice them.

I thought "It's difficult to teach it" when I saw the text(不定詞) . Becuese at first, I mistaken I should teach 3 kind of it(名詞的・形容詞的・副詞的用法). And this thinking had influence on my teaching. I retired into myself "How do I explain it! It's difficult!" My brain was fulled by "Explaination".
When we started preparing the class, of course we noticed that there were no time to teach 3kind of it. And we decided to explain 形容詞的用法. But, as a result, we should decrease more. If we had choosen only the text's contents, we could have made more better class.

Weak Point
We explain grammar so long. We should have given more activity to the students.
Since nobody didn't answer the questions, I waited them. But it had bud influence on the rhythm of the class. I should have asked someone.



Strong Points
We broke up the sentence "I have /a lot of /work/ to do." in each part of speech. Because we wanted students to notice the grammar they don't know and think about it's rule. So when acting roll pla, we asked so many times to the students. We wanted them to learn for themselves.

What it's important for me

It's important for me to think about the others. We must live with the others in our society, and we can't live alone. Since we were born, we were surrounded by family, and were helped by so many people.
If we thought about only ourselves, the world would be ruined. The one follow only the instinst or too much egoist is so unsightly. Our society consist of cooperation. And also, our character are formed by relationship with the others. is a ideal/

My Experience

When I was a junior high school student, I like english class. Because the english teacher was so funny, and we were taught english communication in class. For example, talking with ALT, Shopping Game in english. And my enjoyable activity was talking with ALT. Because I couldn't talk with foreigners in my daily life, and she was so kind and funny woman. She said me "Hello" when she met me in school. Of course we had to study grammar too, but I didn't think it's boring. I thought english is a language and I was interested in going to abroad, so it was important for me to study english communication.
But in high school, english class was changed. The teacher did only reading and writing, and class was so boring. Maybe, it was so ordinary eanglish grammar class in japan. All what the teacher did were written in the txet books. It seemed that the teacher talked to himself, and almost all of the students didn't concentrate on it. English was changed, and it was important for me to study english to pass many exames.(Maybe I was changed too.)
